Exactly what 76/80 said.Check the port alignment on the intake with a gasket, then to the head. If the ports and the bolt holes line up on the intake then slotting the holes will let it bolt up but the ports won;t be aligned. Most of the Edelbrocks I've used recently have had ti have 0.040-0.080 milled off to fit.

I do hope since you mentioned Edelbrock Heads that it is a Performer RPM intake.The plain Performer would reduce the flow on an E head signifigantly.
