Ask your brother what the compression ratio is and what the total timing is set at. You may be able to tune it without wasting money on 100 Octane. If the compression is ~9.5:1 or less you should be able to get by with 93 or less with a good tune up. Maybe it has to much total advance. Start with 30 total and see how it runs. As far as the temps, 210 is not overheating but 180 would be a lot better. There are many factors that could effect temps, with air/fuel ratio and timing being big ones.
