Yes, 71-72 GTO fenders and hoods are expensive if you want extremely nice stuff. Fenders in need of rust repair are easily found and are a lot cheaper. The hoods rust at the leading edge. I passed on about a dozen hoods before finding a nice one.
As it turns out, I won't need the hood and fenders I bought because I recently bought a complete 72 Lemans convertible had all the endura sheet metal in excellent condition. The stuff is just so hard to find, I will keep it as spares in case I ever wreck my car.
