Since timing doesn't seem to be helping much - what model # Edel carb? Did you use the metal adapter plate when you installed it to intake? Big vacuum leak if not. You said it's a vacuum secondary??? If it's a Performer 1407/ 1411 it's mechanical. The secondaries usually come in too quick and you can bend the rod linkage to make them open up later. Are you running full manifold vac adv or ported? Where is your pump shot set at? What jets/ rods and step-up springs are you using? For a quick test move the pump shot arm to the top hole and see if you notice a difference, then to bottom if not. Then get the calibration kit and follow the instructions. If it's not a 1407/1411 then never mind
