The airport I work on is an old Air Force base with large areas of concrete ramps, by the way the airport manager is very up tight and if any black marks show up on the airport I get an not so pleasant visit from the airport manger ( retired military cornel ). The DPS started doing their officer driving draining coarse on the airport. Cop cars as far as the eye could see. Well I’m driving my 71, black, weld wheels and a well built 455. I had to go by the area were the DPS was training to take care of some business at the paint shop at the other end of the field. So as I idled by needles to say I caught a LOT of looks. I took care of my business at the paint shop and headed back to my shop. As I once again idled by the DPS training area a large black officer stepped out of the crowd and motioned for me to come over there. Now its one thing to get pulled over but I am now having to drive my 11 second street car in to a group of about thirty DPS officers. So when I get there the rather large black officer walks over to my car with the whole group in close trail, and then it starts: “Man neat cat” “What year is it” “What size engine” “Are you running nitrous” “Do you take it to the track” “How fast does it go” After the barrage of questions the black officer said “O.K. son this is your one chance, LITE EM UP!” So I did. All the way trough third gear across the ramp with cops cheering me on. Life is good.
