Although, re-reading your original post, if all you're doing is a stock rebuild on a 400, maybe just go with the cast rods resized with good bolts. As long as you're under 5K rpm and not making any real power(<400HP) you shoudn't have any problems. I do have a stock cast rod 455 tripower in my other 65 GTO that was dragstrip thrashed for several years while in my blue 65 making just 400HP and not taking it past 5K.
