To those who are reluctant to place themselves on this map due to fear of auto theft I offer this observation, based on 26 years with a large police department.
You are far more at risk from someone who sees you park your Pontiac and walk into a restaurant, convenience store, hotel, etc., or from someone in your home area who knows first-hand that you have the car and where you store it than you ever will be from someone perusing this map that isn't even specific to the square mile where you're located. I purposely did not add the map to the Frappr public directory, meaning one must visit PerformanceYears.com to even learn of it.
I'm really enjoying seeing the pins proliferate. It heightens the sense of community among those of us who share a common intense interest but are unlikely ever to meet very many in the group.
Although I am, as you can see, right in the middle of things, I'm simultaneously far from the highly-populated PY membership areas. However, thanks to PY, email, PMs and free cellphone time, I now have Pontiac friends in Oklahoma, Arizona, Indiana, Wisconsin, California and other sites across the nation.
