the eastwood paint is designed to go over bare metal,i recomend to use thier primer first,do not use self etching primer epoxy paint is designed to do what self etching does,i am currently using the eastwood paint the only issue i have come across is that it takes awhile for it to dry unless you crank the heat up or bake it,best thing to do is light coats until each coat dries or you wait for ever,you can prime it and paint when ever you want just scuff it with scotch brite first in case any dirt or grease got on the object you want to spray,hope this helps
