One thing to consider is drain back time. I ran some 50 weight once, and was kinda surprised to see that the oil pressure (cold, fast idle) had a small 'hiccup'. I figured that the thick oil just wasn't getting back to the pump quick enough? After changing back to 30 weight, it was gone. Readings were taken from the plug by the distibutor, using 3' of braided AN-6 if that helps.
