Not quite a Pontiac but my high school daily driver(threw papers out of it too) was a dual quad 409. It used dual 715 cfm Holleys no PV (a tunnel ram carb) mounted sideways on Offy adapters and linkage. The vacuum dashpots wouldn't fit so we put the old screw in the linkage and had all 8 barrels open. Didn't seem to have any drivability issues but it was a stick. The primaries with the accelrator pumps were each on one plenum with the configuration. Now all ther rubber line wouldn't pass tech now adays but did pass IHRA in 1972.
