Bruce - how high is high?

Check the link, which lists the multicarb manifolds available for Pontiac of which I am aware:

The Offy manifolds labeled as "competition" are somewhat higher than the others. The M/T cross ram is also higher than the others. This manifold has gotten a bad rap as some have used it with bowtie carbs instead of Pontiac carbs, and gotten less than desirable results (which is predictable).

I have no doubt that virtually any of the listed dual quads (with appropriate carbs) would outperform the 1959 tripower.
