Last time I checked my 800 E'brock AFB got around 16 mpg in city driving. That is with a cam that has 240 @ 050 in a 455, so that is prtetty acceptable with that size cam. Rear axle is 3.08. That is an Imperial gallon, so the mpg figure would be about 14 for a US gallon.
I know your not a fan of the E stuff, but this carb has been great. It looks well made to me & I cannot find fault with it. Other than the n/seat issue you mentioned, do you know of other problems? There's not alot to give problems in an AFB style carb!! I have many original AFBs as well.
