e-bay has put a lot of parts into my hands that I would never have the chance to buy otherwise. Also, I have sold many items that I have packed, unpacked and dragged to swap meets and toy shows.
I think ebay has helped to lower prices on a lot items simply because they have appeared in multiples, making us realize some things aren't as "rare" as one may have originally thought.
This hobby is expensive for everyone, and I do not fault anyone for putting scarce items up for auction, such as the above mentioned fenders for $3000. He probably can use the money to further his project, whatever it may be. If they sold for that amount, I bet the buyer was happy to get them. If they didn't sell, maybe they're not worth it. I have never been "angry" that I won an auction or found a special part at a swap meet.
Ebay is a great place to find out what your items are worth, as the whole world gets to have a chance to look at your things. All you need are two people who want your item to find its true worth.
