I used a stack of washers under each shifter "foot" to locate the shifter in the console and @ the correct heigth, and then I cut the "spacers" to fit the tunnel contours. The QS cover plate will not increase the shifter's stability as the hole for the "boot" is too large. Even if there is a little movement in the shifter it will work fine as the shift cable is firmly attached to the shifter frame.
