That was my thought too... As it was the correct original block, I think I would've looked for a second opinion... I think her initial plan was a stock rebuild... isn't it possible to do some kind of block repair or welding to fix something like that? I know there's a guy here in Mass who does all kinds of repair welding on blocks, heads etc. Seems to me a hairline crack could be fixed somehow? Especially for a stock buildup? I'm sure she probably thought it through... but I would've definitely pursued fixing an original first before going the path she did. I wish I still had my original block (that had a crack). But then, that's just me.
