All true. Return regulators are really a plus in many ways when running an electric pump.

Gerotor style pumps (Mallory and some of the newer Holley designs) are quieter than the rotory vane style pumps (which includes most others). The rotory vane pumps with metal vanes or rollers (most use metal, including the classic Holley pumps) are noisier than those with non-metalic vanes like the new Jegs brand pumps and the Edelbrock pumps.

No matter which kind of pump you use, you can make it quieter with rubber mounts.
