i like to put some miles on one before hammering it. i know it's always been a very opinionated subject, but i just like to give things a chance to seat in, and get a feel for the thing first....things such as possible detonation, etc.
i also have a couple hundred miles at most on my new roller 455, and i'll put some more before i really hammer it.
i have melted a lot of rubber already without even really getting into the secondaries though...about 4,000 RPM max so far
