Default Carb selection help desperately needed

Hi guys, I am having an awful problem with carbs these days and I need some suggestions before I go any further. I have a 73 Grand Am 455 with the factory intake on it. I need a new carb for it, and to make a long story short, I have tried two new (reman.) quadrajets and both of them were junk right from the start, the last one had worn out throttle bushings right out of the box. I looked in Jegs and saw they had a Q-jet replacement Holley. I called and asked them about it and they said it should work fine, so I ordered it. Well, it would work fine if I was putting it on a Chevy, but it won't work on a Pontiac (wrong choke,no power brake vac,pcv port hits on vac port on intake,etc.). Bottom line is I need a carb and I can't wait to have someone build me a good Q-jet. What do you guys recommend that I can bolt on and be done with this? I don't care at this point what kind it is, I just don't really want to change the intake at this point, so if I need an adapter plate, so be it. I just want to drive my car. Thanks for any suggestions.
