The 80 grit sounds aggressive but it looks pretty smooth on the rims.

It sounded like you made some obvious deep scratches, I misunderstood. If it looks good, you're done!
Whenever I leave something uncoated with 80 grit scratches I'm used to dealing with a big PITA later.
