I just had a similar pleasant surprise when I removed my carpet. 5 small spots of surface rust and the rest of the whole floor still has the original paint.
Sound deadener was all in place and still adhered to the floor and no sign that anything has ever even soaked into it except for the hydraulic fluid from a top cylinder leak on the passenger side.
My tail lights on the other hand are a total goatrope.
