I sold a running, driving '69 J for $1500. Car was straight and 99% rust-free, needed paint and some dash wiring work, interior was fair.
I rebuilt the engine (re-ring, bearings, cam, etc.) and put on new shocks, full 2-1/2" dual exhaust, new radiator, altogether about $2000 invested in a car I got for free. It had jumped the timing chaimn (nylon cam gear) at around 90K miles and bent all the pushrods. I drove it for a year and sold it.
I really liked that GP as they are beautiful cars, but I needed it out of my way. Hated to see it get parted and cut up, but once it's no longer mine I really can't do too much about what happens to it.
I've seen a few advertised in the paper for cheap, but a man can only have so many projects. Come on out to CA, the rust-free old cars are still here waiting.
Basket-case unfinished resto '70 GP, engine might or might not run. Yep, $500 to $1000 tops if someone really wanted it.
