Guys, did some more digging on this, and as Liberty blue mentioned, get a deck with wired remote control and place the remote in the ashtray. Seems like some the fancy DVD players out there have RF remote, but that's it.

I think I may get the Clarion MD455. It is a marine deck as I guess a lot of boats keep the deck downstairs to run the TV, etc, and the wired remote is for the captain upstairs at the steering wheel.

The good thing about this deck is that it has provisions for the wired remote control available from Clarion and it also has a aux input for a portable satellite radio setup.

I searched wired remote control on google and found it.
