Thanks for the info, Alan. Maybe there's a story like that with the black '72 T/A because I doubt that just anyone could walk in and order a special color on a Trans Am and the factory would build it. If that were the case, we would surely see a larger number of early Trans Ams in several non regular production colors.
Speaking of cars like that, I just spoke to the person that's doing the restoration on the Adriatic Blue '72 Trans Am here in the Omaha area. He checked the data plate and said that the color code read 24 - 24, which would be correct for Adriatic Blue. He said they found part of the build sheet in the car and that it had Adriatic Blue written in by hand on it. He wasn't sure if the owner had gotten the PHS on the car. Next time we see the owner , we'll ask him about that. The car is in primer now, but the original truck lid was off the car as it's being replaced. The stripes were the same as the white and black stripes on the Lucerne Blue cars. On the under side of the trunk lid, the paint looks to be the original Adriatic Blue. We hope to find the original wheel flairs and front spoiler to see what color they were. I'm sure there's a special story behind this car being built also.
