Ken....clear is BETTER in sun..much. You are getting bad advise from shops and not seeing the entire picture yourself. Sure..there are some peeling clear jobs out there. But..how many faded cars do you see now? Ken..do you remember when cars that were 5-7 years old looked like crap if not babied? Cars look great 10 years old now and the average Joe barely washes them. This is because of BC/CC systems. Painting with AE is ok if you are comfortable with it...but it is so old technology. I still use it sometimes on things, but in no way would I paint a newer car with it. People forget how things used to be...I don't. The ratio of peeling clear cars to the amount of faded cars with the older AE paints is heavy in the faded paint jobs. It was so common to see faded paint..very common. You don't see that now. You see an occassional peeling job..no contest. AE will fade when in the sun..even with hardener added. The pigments are different..totally different chemistry.
