I have used both, On my Nova I went with HEI and MSD6A and Coil. I have also used pertonix on my Fairlane and my friends Mustang. I see that both are easy and provide enough spark for what I we needed. However pertonix is by far the easiest way to go. IMO...
Keep in mind the HEI wast for a hotter engine but still they both worked equally well.
Neither has had an issue.
