get yourself a squeeze spray bottle and put about a cup of gas in it. Put a couple of squirts in the carb and have someone turn it over. If it starts or tries to start, keep squirting the gas and see if it keeps running. If it does, keep it running that way for a little and see if it starts running by itself. If it doesn't, I suspect that you have bad gas.

The solution is to drain the tank and replace about a gallon of gas. Run it dry and then repeat the process. It's always advisable to run the tank way down periodically to get rid of any gas that might be ready to go stale.
