My car had the metel caps, originally, but I remember that they didn't stay on the wheel very well, and I was always having to replace one, every so often.
And if they would stay on, they never really stayed true to the wheel.
That's why I ended up putting the plastic/hex caps on, with the metal cage inside of them.
They stay on now, and look good, because they stay tight against the surface of the wheel.

And as a note of interest for those of you that didn't know, the plastic/hex caps WERE used in the 1979 model year, but only on the 10th Ann., Turbo wheels.
