Thank you everyone. I may try removing the old piece of metal under the hing and see if the lid sits better. It's not doing anything because it has no spring left in it's long life anways. A big thank you for the info on where to get flocking. I was worried about where to get it done or buy some and do it myself.
By the way, I used to restore old firearms for other people as a hobby and extra income. The metal on many is called blueing and I have used it many times. I have found that it's a great replacment for the phosphate on bolts and things but a heck of a lot less to buy. I buy it by the quart and supply houses for about $18.00. You can get it in the normal gloss on most newer guns or the dull none reflective on some new and many older guns. It's simple to clean the piece with something and then apply it with a cotton swab, rag, or simply dip the pieces in the salution.
Maybe others have used it as well. Once it's there and dried it will last a long, long time. Again, the factory here is money and the ability to DIY in no time at all.
