NOT TRUE!!!!!!!! I've done it on mine without any damage, but you don't tap or press on the impeller without placing the opposite end of the shaft (where the fan hub is) on something solid. The replacement unit I got for mine was not pressed on far enough, necessitating getting it further down on the shaft for maximum efficiency. They press the impeller on the shaft in manufacture, how do you suppose they do that?
