It's not about ego. When you buy jeans do you buy em 2 sizes too small just cause you saved a couple of bucks? If I was looking for a status symbol I'd be driving the H2/H3 suv down the beltway next to all the other BMW's etc...
If I was buying a car just for transportation it would be an import hybrid 30+/-MPG.
So....according to your last statement we should all get in line like sheep and follow the rest of the lemmings.
Maybe then we could all have 2.5 kids and live in the same style houses with the same style clothes and the same style jobs....GET THE POINT.

Again, same thing I've been saying all along. If the performance matched the looks, included a budget model with the high performance options ... one could repeat what the GTO did 40 years ago.
I don't know how car sales are in your neck of the woods but i can safely say most of the kids (18-21) around here are driving imports.
If domestic manufacturers ever wanna climb back to the top of the heap they better figure something out.
