I made up a fixture that used a 5/16 pushrod that was brazed to the head of a 1/2 bolt that I counter drilled to 5/16. Install in place of one of the flywheel bolts. It uses a Starret swivel and adaptor rod that connects to the back of a lug type dial indicator. With this set-up I can check both axises.
