I found this post after searching the forums for an answer on how to reset my odometer to 0. There is one explanation in here but I found it very hard to understand but that may just be me. I figured it out and it took me all of 15 minutes and 10 of those was thinking about it. I figured I would explain how I did it so maybe it would be a little clearer for anybody else who wants to do the same thing.
Just to clarify the only reason I reset mine to 0 was I am just about to put a freshly rebuilt motor and trans into my car and when I got the car the odometer was not working any ways so there was no telling how many miles were on the car
First you have to completely remove the odometer from the case so that you have the rod with all the numbers on it in your hand.
Set the 1/10ths wheel to 0.
Now take the stop tab (The metal forked tab that locks on the bar on the housing) to the immediate left of the 1/10th digit and rotate it towards the top of the odometer. It will only move about a 10th of a turn. Now rotate the 1/10th 0 all the way around in the direction that the numbers would be going up until it stops.
Once again rotate the stop tab immediately to the left of the 1/10th digit in the same direction until it stops again.
Keep repeating this process until the 0 for the ones wheel is at the top and the stop tab is 180 degrees opposite of it (on the bottom)
You should have the 0 for the ones digit and the 0 for the 10ths digit side by side with the stop tab between them at the bottom.
Now repeat the process for the next stop tab to the left.
You will have to rotate both of the wheels you just lined up together and repeat the process above until you have the 10th, ones and tens digits all set to zero with the two stop tabs 180 degrees opposite from them.
You keep repeating the process rotating all of the zeros that you have set together until you reach the last digit.
Then reinstall the odometer into the case with the stop tabs all locked onto the bar in the housing and you have a 0 mile odometer.
It sounds way more confusing than it is.
I did this a few hours ago so I'm going off of memory so if it doesn't work turning things in the direction that I stated above reverse the direction and all will be good.
