Did you call a U-Haul local or go on-line? Their reservations are notoriously worthless, so even if they told you they had one you are likely to be disappointed. Most of the time if there is one on the lot you can get it for the day.

They usually have a few lying around down here in C-Ville. I would try actually riding by a couple of locations. They make a really nice 16' that my friend used to haul his '67 SS 396 from NY to VA with. Easy loading, alum. etc.
