I really am looking for someone to explain to me, WHY? Or maybe more accurately, WHY NOT?
This is not a "new thing" (smaller rod journals). Federal Mogul supplied .060" under AP-style bearings for racing Pontiacs "back in the day" ('60s). They knew then, about the bearing speed issues. There just weren't any "off the shelf" rods like there are today.
