I did read somewhere that once the steel is stamed the stamping is in the metal and can be retrieved. I would like to know how.

that all depends on how much penetration the welder has when the stamping's filled.

as i said if the car ever gets inspected by law enforcement and the numbers don't match it could open up a big bag of worms. according to the isp detective i talked to the chassis is what's titled. the visable vin, the frame and the drivetrain numbers should match for a legit car.
