Some die grinders are better about this than others,makita makes a nice variable speed grinder that has a special internal drive mechanism that reduces the shock felt while using it and helps the internal gears live longer,IMO it's the die grinder of choice.
Makita model GDO800C.
I find the air powered die grinders are much harder on the hands and wrists when doing lots of grinding,especially with those "spoon" throttle controls.
I wont do any porting with air die grinders myself,not unless it's extremely minimal and quick.
