Just a theory, but since the 69 Ram Air cars, whether an HO or a RAIV, had some innerstructure hood bracing cut out, they were special hoods for Ram Air cars only. This also explains why those hoods never had punched holes for emblems, and they used "Ram Air" or "Ram Air IV" decals.
The 67/68 Ram Air Birds did not have a special hood, they were all punched for the 400 emblems, hence the "Ram Air" emblems would have made sense.
But if a guy claims he actually made them back then, I would love to see some proof. If these were just regular aftermarket emblems, probably $5 a pair, it's amazing that someone paid over $600 for them on E-Bay. I was always skeptical that these emblems were ever produced by Pontiac. I was just looking for actual proof that they were aftermarket.
By the way, here's the link to that 68 Ram Air Firebird. Sorry, I thought it was a RAII. Odd seeing the underhood insulation with Ram Air.
