I talked with this seller 6 days ago and I think this car is what he describes it to be. NOT original in many ways, but it is an X code 73 with a 74 Y8 block. It will be interesting to see how much this car will bring.
I would like to see the numbers by the carb on his intake.
I have the same cast code LS2 (no X) date code K172. with the “re-stamped” # of 5170, to make it a 495170 # intake. Note that the 49 starting numbers are still raised, i.e./ as cast.Original. K172 should stand for November, 17th , ’72.
I have been told this is a 74 as the 73,s were re-stamped as 494405 not 495170 but still only the raised 49 on the 73’s as well.
I have a late ship date of 08-07-73 for this SD one of the last ‘73s.
Note the different placement of the vacuum switch, basically 74 vacuum line routing.
In both LS2 and LS2 X the last 4 raised numbers, by the carb are ground off and are re-stamped as far as I know. Please advise.
Please view pics and respond with advice and opinions.
