Redta,you can adjust the amount of advance in the distributor.Mallory sells a kit with "keys" that you use like feeler guages to set the advance.It also comes with springs to adj. the spark curve.Depends on your combo how much initial timing you need,but Im sure you need at least 12* initial,mine liked 20* minimum.I ended up locking mine out at 30*.
