I would look for something else. Preferably something a little older with RWD and a Carb. possibly, easier to work on. You can get a decent car (driver) that you and your son can tinker with on the side to make it the way he wants it.
I just sold a 87' Monte Carlo SS for 2,500 that ran and drove good, but had older orig. paint that was faded. But a dependable car none the less.
