The rear main of the crank is supported very well (very wide bearing). No bushing if centered on the centerline of the crankshaft and the transmission will put a thrust on the crankshaft. Therefore the "thrust" you refer to must be in a front to rear motion.
If the bushing is installed correctly (where the transmission input shaft has clearance between it and the bushing (at the large splined area) then there should be no thrust there either.
Can you explain further? Like to hear the reason why.
