That was Don Francisco who put a Pontiac engine in his early Thunderbird. The engine buildup was covered in the January 1963 issue in an article titled, "Pontiac to Perfection", and the installation was covered in the February 1963 in an issue titled "New Thunder for an Old Bird."

He used a '60 block so he could bolt it up to a B&M Hydro-Stick transmission, although he apparently used a newer crank as he had to do some machining to the flywheel to fit the later crank.

Now that I think about it, this may be a good set of articles to scan for Steve Barcak's thread on parts interchangeability.
