Off-topic, Bill, but are you from Houston?
Many years ago I knew a Bill Kinney who lived on the west side, near the Memorial Drive and Kirkwood area.
On-topic, rarely see outright failures on POA valves, but they are easily clogged up. You might try checking with one of the A/C parts specialists in Hemmings for a replacement if yours is fouled up.
