Hi all,

Well, I finally had some time this weekend to fuss with the vibration issue.

First, I swapped the driveshaft around.

I put a floor jack under the pumpkin and jacked the rear wheels off the ground. Ran the car up to 80 MPH with the tires and drums off the car.

Smooth as glass.

Then added the drums (with lug nuts).

A little bit of vibration.

Then added the tires... Yeah, some more vibration, not terrible, but there... Seems different than when driving.

Took the car for a drive. Same old BS vibration.

Then I swapped the rear tires from my convertible (which is pretty smooth) to the hardtop (which has the vibration problem).

This seemed to make a significant difference. The car is much smoother now. Not perfect (the front tires are still the same, and the convertible tires (on the rear) have never been balanced since I've owned it, so they probably need a little).

So, the tires on the hardtop (first set) have been balanced several times.. so it might either be a tire defect that balancing doesn't pick up, or a rim problem of some kind? I did notice the holes for the lug nuts look a little "worn", almost egged out a very small amount. Should have got a pic.

So the question is - Now what? Do I buy a new set of wheels and tires for the hardtop ($$$$$$).
