lloyd, it is indeed gutless in the extreme; doesnt start rolling till 3500 rpm and even then it's not strong.
i did a quick leakdown on 2 holes; very acceptable 13% leakage.
the motor's mechanically sound; it's all in the cam in my opinion which is why i'm trying to see what a stocker HO or SD does prior to diving in to it - am trying to figure out in advance if it's stabbed in wrong or just too big; nunzi's small stick is only 230ish @ 050 and 10 degrees more on exhaust, but i can't find LSA or intake opening points published anywhere.
yes, throttle at WOT for test with battery charger on while cranking.
