If you want an alternative to paint the exhaust manifolds, use used motor oil. I have heard this being done before by others. Just coat them with oil and then let the car run. It will burn off the oil and leave a nice patina on the manifolds with no more rust. Kinda looks like paint but it'snot. My oil leak did it for me on the right side manifold and it looks kinda nice. Easier than paint too.
