Just so there is no misunderstanding, I spoke by telephone with the seller/owner of the 73 SD Formula. He told me directly, without any question, this car was scrapped in Southern California in the mid 80's. He said nothing to me about air conditioning, don't know where that came from.
The only pieces of the car he had left were drive train componets. No body parts remained. No car in the basement, nothing in the crawl space, or buried in the field. I discussed buying the drive train parts, they were priced higher than I wanted to pay, so I passed on them. No grudge here. Don't care who bought them, or how much was paid.
I do feel strongly that tag swapping is poor form. I know others have a different view. They are entitled to their opinion, as I am mine. But there is also a legal issue, it is called Felony VIN Tampering. It is law, not someones opinion.
As far as posting that the car was scrapped, maybe some would be unconcerned about buying a tag swapped car. But if it happened to me, I would pursue the perpetrator with unfailing determination. I feel a duty to protect others who might have the same concern about buying a swapped tag car, that is why I support publishing the VIN of scrapped cars.

Yes, this is a hobby that I enjoy. I too like to see cars restored and showed. I hope you don't think I am "bashing" here, that is not my intent. My intent is to set the record straight as it seems you may have had some misunderstandings.
