Guys two of us here that have had first hand experience say lets get it back to his question and stay with IA blocks. No cheerleading either!

Aftermarket blocks are a new deal for alot of us in the Pontiac community-old hat for many Chevy guys. There is a little learning curve but a good machinist can help figure them out.

Even different AN pipe fittings in the same brand fit differently in the same tapped hole sometimes.
