Cast rods are nothing more than a time bomb in a performance engine.If they cost the same as prepped cast rods,and they do(starting at 169$ for a 5140 forging and 300$ for a 4340 forging) the only why is why use cast rods.They should be a thing of the past,Pontiacs worst idea ever(that or the open lifter galley) and are responsible for more Pontiac blocks in the scrap yard than any other thing.Plain fact of the matter is we would have many more Pontiac blocks around if they had good rods stock.
Tomcat,forged rods and pistons,455,RAIV cam,fill the crossover,some bowl work,gasket matching,3000 stall,some gear. High 11 seconds without the juice BS.
