Randy, that 260 would be just fine and dandy with me.
I drove a Ventura with a stock 260, for over 100,000 miles. And it had a 3-speed stick, BTY. Loved the gas mileage that car got.
Anyway, that 5-speed wouldn't stand up to anything bigger than a 260-307. I heard once, they used the same (5sp) transmission as the Monza/Sunbird in those bigger cars.
